Editor, HomeLine Guard

June Aldous

June writes and checks every guide on HomeLine Guard, going back to the FTC, FCC or carrier page before a claim goes up.

June writes, edits and fact-checks every page on HomeLine Guard. She is the only person who works on the site, which is why the writing sounds like one voice and why the corrections come from the same inbox you write to.

What June does here

Her working method is plain. She picks one question that a person with a home phone might actually ask, finds the official page that answers it, and reads that page again slowly before writing a word. When the rule is different from one carrier to the next, she checks several carrier help pages and says what differs. When she cannot confirm a detail, she leaves it out or marks it as a guess. Before a guide goes up, she reads it aloud to catch sentences that trip, and she adds the date of the review at the top.

She also keeps the number reader honest. It is a small tool that only reads the digits, and she keeps its explanations free of claims it cannot back up.

Habits and leanings

June still keeps a corded phone in the hallway, mostly because she likes the sound of the ring and the fact that it works in a storm. She writes down odd calls on a pad by the phone with the date and time, and she has strong feelings about "Private" callers who ring at supper. She would rather be useful than clever, and she says "I would" when something is an opinion. She has no phone-industry credentials to claim, and she does not pretend to have any. What she has is patience and a habit of going back to the source.

How to reach her

Use the contact page to send a correction, a question or an idea for a guide. She reads everything. She does not give legal advice and cannot identify who is behind a number.
